Designed, Not Just Installed
Fixture placement, beam spread, and brightness worked out for your actual trees and grade — so the light does something, rather than just being present.
Landscape & Architectural Lighting · Reno, Nevada
Architectural LED track set into your roofline, color-matched to your fascia and invisible by day. Warm white every night of the year, seasonal color when you want it, and never a ladder again. Soren also designs full low-voltage landscape lighting for the rest of the property.
Who We Are
Soren Lighting designs and installs two things exceptionally well: permanent house lighting tucked into the roofline, and low-voltage landscape lighting through the yard. Most Reno and Sparks properties end up with both, because they solve different problems. The roofline defines the shape of the house after dark. The landscape system gives the property depth — mature pines and aspens uplit, garden beds washed, stonework grazed, walkways and steps made genuinely safe to use at night.
What separates a designed outdoor lighting system from an installed one is restraint. Fixtures are placed to light the subject rather than to be looked at, aimed away from windows and away from the street, and layered so the eye moves through the property instead of stopping at the first bright point. That takes an evening on site, not a catalog.
Every Soren project starts with a free walk of the property after dark, across Reno, Sparks, and the surrounding Truckee Meadows. We look at what is worth lighting and what is better left dark, then design to that — not to a fixture count pulled off a shelf.
Smart Control
Set a scene once and it runs itself. Warm white on a dusk-to-dawn schedule, team colors before kickoff, red and green through December — and the landscape zones alongside it, all from one app.
What We Do
Architectural LED track set into the eave line and color-matched to your fascia. Invisible by day, defining the roofline at night.
Uplights, wash lights, and accent fixtures placed to shape the yard after dark — canopy, specimen trees, stonework, and planting beds.
Overlapping pools of low light along walks, stairs, retaining walls, and grade changes. Safe footing without a landing strip.
Warm, dimmable lighting for the spaces you actually live in — under-rail, post-cap, and overhead runs that extend the evening.
Motion-aware fixtures and dusk-to-dawn scheduling on the same system, so entries and dark corners are covered without floodlights.
Grounds lighting for offices, restaurants, common areas, and larger properties — zoned, scheduled, and maintained under one contact.
Why It’s Worth It
Fixture placement, beam spread, and brightness worked out for your actual trees and grade — so the light does something, rather than just being present.
Brightness, zones, and schedules from one app — adjust the garden through the seasons as planting fills in.
Sealed, corrosion-resistant fixtures chosen for high-desert swings — snow load, hard UV, and 40-degree daily temperature shifts.
Considered outdoor lighting reads as a finished landscape detail, not an add-on — the kind of upgrade buyers notice from the street.
Built For Here
The Truckee Meadows is a high desert basin at roughly 4,500 feet, and it is genuinely hard on exterior lighting. Summer days push past 95°F and the same night drops into the 50s — a 40-degree swing that works connectors loose over a season if they were never sealed for it. UV at this elevation is punishing on lenses and cheap polymer housings. Winter brings snow load on eaves and freeze-thaw cycling through every joint in the system.
Then there is the soil. Much of Reno and Sparks sits on decomposed granite and hardpan, which changes how landscape lighting wire gets run and how fixtures get staked so they stay aimed through a windy spring. National franchise crews working from a standard spec do not account for any of this. It is the whole reason to hire locally.
Every connector, fixture, and power supply is rated for permanent exterior use, not seasonal service.
Lenses and housings chosen for sun exposure at 4,500 feet, where consumer-grade plastics chalk and yellow.
Fixture mounting and wire routing worked out for decomposed granite, not for topsoil.
Shielded, aimed, and dimmed so light lands on your property — not in a neighbor’s window or the night sky.
How It Works
We walk the property with you at dusk, when you can actually see what the light will do — at no cost and with no obligation.
A fixture-by-fixture plan for the yard and elevations, with a rendering of your own property lit, before anything is ordered.
Most residential systems are finished in one to two days. Wire is buried, track is color-matched, and the beds are left exactly as we found them.
We aim every fixture after dark, build your first scenes with you, and return to re-aim as planting grows in.
Daylight hides everything that matters. You cannot see where a neighbor’s window will catch glare, how far ambient street light already reaches, which tree has enough canopy to be worth uplighting, or where the ground genuinely gets dangerous. A daytime estimate is a fixture count. An evening walk is a design.
Service Area
We install permanent house lighting and landscape lighting throughout Reno and Sparks, and travel for larger projects in Carson City, Incline Village, Washoe Valley, Sun Valley, Verdi, Cold Springs, Dayton, Minden & Gardnerville.
Good Questions
It is quoted per project rather than off a price list, because the variables that drive labor are specific to your house: linear footage of roofline, roof height and story count, pitch, how many peaks and dormers there are since each is a cut and a joint, and whether the eave can be reached from a ladder or needs lift access. We measure all of it during the on-site design walk and give you a fixed written price before anything is ordered. Financing is available.
Barely. The channel is slim, mounted tight under the eave, and supplied in several colors so we can match your fascia or gutter. From the street in daylight it reads as trim rather than as lighting — most homeowners cannot pick it out on their own house.
No. The track fastens to the fascia or under the eave, never through roofing material, so the roof envelope is not penetrated and your roofing warranty is unaffected.
Yes to all three. Mounting method changes with the substrate, which is one of the things we work out on site rather than assuming. Homes with unusual fascia detail, exposed rafter tails, or no eave at all can still be lit — the approach just differs.
Commercial-grade diodes are rated for tens of thousands of hours — well over a decade at normal nightly use. Because the system is low-voltage and highly efficient, leaving it on from dusk to dawn costs very little.
Every fixture, connector, and power supply we install is sealed and weather-rated for permanent exterior use. The system is specified for Northern Nevada conditions: freeze-thaw cycling through every joint, snow load sitting on an eave, and the hard UV that chalks and yellows cheaper housings at 4,500 feet.
Yes, and without a ladder. The same track that sits in warm white all year runs seasonal color on a schedule — red and green in December, orange and violet in October, your team colors on game night. Holiday capability comes along with the architectural system rather than being the reason for it.
The runs are sectional, so a fault is isolated and replaced rather than requiring the whole elevation to come down. That is one of the practical differences between commercial-grade track and a consumer product.
